Famous for his candid Instagram posts, Levi has raised eyebrows with his unconventional claims, including a peculiar assertion that Dwayne Johnson, star of ‘Black Adam,’ undermined the post-credits scene in the ‘Shazam!’ sequel.

While voicing his support for the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, Levi’s recent outburst urged audiences to actively opt against watching lackluster movies.

In a surprising turn of events, actor Zachary Levi, famed for his role in ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods,’ has taken a bold stand against the Hollywood film industry’s quality standards.

Addressing an enthusiastic crowd at the Chicago Fan Expo on August 12, Levi expressed, “In my personal view, the industry produces a considerable amount of lackluster content. There appears to be a lack of genuine effort in creating exceptional experiences for audiences. This disinterest is evident, and it’s unfortunate.”

He went on to elaborate, “How often do we find ourselves intrigued by a trailer, only to be disappointed by the actual movie? The studios know that once they’ve sold you the ticket and you’re seated, they’ve secured their revenue. Our ability to instigate change lies in consciously avoiding such subpar offerings. If we collectively opt out of these films, it can make a significant impact.”

It is worth noting that these remarks come from an individual whose recent film struggled at the box office, ranking as the third-weakest opening weekend for a movie within the DCEU, as reported by Screen Rant.

While ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ garnered an impressive 86% audience approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, critics were less generous, bestowing it with a mere 49% rating.

Furthermore, the movie’s global box office earnings amounted to a modest $133.5 million, a far cry from its predecessor, 2019’s ‘Shazam!,’ which raked in a substantial $368 million.

Levi attributes the lackluster performance of ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ to the influence of online “detractors and provocateurs.”

In a recent interview with the FilmUp Podcast, he remarked, “The landscape has shifted significantly between the first and second movies. The impact of social media has become more pronounced, with toxicity and negative elements gaining momentum.”

He continued, “Regrettably, there are individuals who seem determined to undermine specific projects due to personal biases or antipathy towards me.”

For enthusiasts of Levi’s work, there’s an upcoming opportunity to see him in action. He is set to star alongside Gina Rodriguez in ‘Spy Kids: Armageddon,’ scheduled for release on Netflix on September 22.
